Give me a brazing torch ant time.. at least I can get those things to work pretty well..

I've just read throught he recent contris on the LIst and found Paul Williams' one about Carlton Jewel, the Holdsworth and the James.. but I just cannot understand how to get the eBay search engine to root these things out for me so that I can enjoy the fun too. Confounded thing !.. sounds more English than "sod it!". Can any one explain to me, off-List please how these things work ?

Anyway back to the fun.. I reckon that there cannot be too many collectors about with these three machines in their collection... and though I cannot finnackle the workings of that Ebay search engine my Sherlock Holmes-type cunning tells me that the seller is a V-C.C member, that he lives in the NE of England, that he is incredibly single-minded in his pursuit of "..the best".. and that his name is Peter McCleod. "Elementary, my dear Watson !" I don't think that Peter will mind my divulging his name... if Peter is the seller. that is. Now if you think that these machines are spectacular ...and I am assuming that the Viking is the rareissimo track frame with the very odd chainstay arrangement ( I think ther'es one in the CR archive) - then you should have seen his 1948 RhScott, his early 50s Geoff Clark track frame...

This group of frames appears to be the collection that Peter had for sale at the very recent VCC Northern and Scootish bike Jumble. Some of us drooling over the machines had decided that all Peter wanted to do was to prove what single-minded determination... and a willingness to spend many £££££ on the restorations could bring to your stable. All the frames were sprayed at Cleveland Bike Respray, up there in the NE near Middlesborough, but although we "oldies" tend to think that they cost him "..an arm and a leg".. I am tending to think that in terms of the big bucks you have to spend in the States on resprays.. then these prices are modest. Peter is a perfectionist... whatever it costs... he is on a mission...then he goes and sells them all.. only to start all over again...but that's the mission.

Norris Lockley... sitiing just about one hour by Citroen diesel estate from all these goodies.. Settle UK
