Subject: [CR]the ride: 60s Carlton Flyer questions

Mark, I have what is probably an identical 25" Carlton Flyer frameset. Mine has a small ding in the top tube and I have been kicking around restoring the frame. So, what do you think of the ride of the bike? Obviously it's a big beast, but I'd be interested in your overall impressions.

Thanks, Rod Kronenberg Fort Collins, CO

Larry,

I have a Carlton Flyer road bike as well (25") that I purchased from the original owner about 5 years ago. The Campy hub lock nuts are dated 63, although the owner thought he bought it in 65. Still cleaning up some excess patina, and just got a nicely used B-17 for it (thanks, Tom!). It has a Los Angeles bike license on the seat tube that expired in 67.

Cheers,
