Somebody check if they are ice skating in Hell right now.

I've always been a big fan of Mavic components and owner Bruno Gormand; I have four "Tout Mavic" bikes. My perception of Mavic was always as a small "boutique" racing parts company with lots of French mojo (their first complete group dates from 1979).

That Bruno died in '85 driving his Renault R5 Turbo on a twisty road and crashing while reaching for the dash board cigarette lighter just adds to the French mystique (his wife Madame Cécile Gormand and daughter continued running the company till 1990).

And it doesn't hurt that almost all of Sean Kelly's wins and Greg LeMond's shocking 1989 TdF 8 second win were on Mavic equiped bikes.
