Mavic sold rebadged Look pedals, rebadged Modolo brakes, rebadged Simplex shifters (stamped "SIMPLEX" logo omitted), so why not rebadged Simplex derailleurs?

I would tend to agree with Chuck, although I have no real evidence other than the same reasoning and hearing in the shops back then that the derailleurs were "real" Mavic parts. Shifters and other components were so obviously sourced from others, that the derailleurs seemed just as obviously not so. Also seemed like more evidence of Mavic's continuing push to establish itself as an equal in the high-end component market, which appeared to be company policy at the time. The 500 series hubs weren't rebadged hubs from others, were they?
