All of this talk has now got me wondering what to do with those nice shiny Campagnolo chainsets hanging on the wall of my lock-up. Mick Butler has also got me thinking about the round profile Chater Lea and hollow steel Duprat cranks I have as well. ------------------------------------- Bruce, being a generous fellow to a fault, I will offer to safely store all those DuPrat cranks and save you worry. I probably need them as replacements, since I've only been using mine for a quarter century, albeit not daily. Besides, I wouldn't want to trouble you or others with the challenges of cotters...

For those who haven't seen them, the DuPrats are built-up, steel, and feature a tapered hollow arm, with cross section smaller than that of the pedal eye. Just lovely beasties. Decades ago, I weighed the right one, it was 3 gm (0.1 ounce) heavier than a TA alloy of the same 5-pin style.

By the way, mine are on a fixed-gear bike...

looking forward to providing you this critical assisstance... :-)

And I in turn as a generous service to concerned list members will store those dangerous Campagnolo cranks at my place.Free of charge, sender to pay shipping and handling.

After reading Harvey's generous offer,I figure it is the least I can do.Must be a H.M.S. and/ or Virginia thing.

Sincerely,Harris M. Spracher,Waynesboro,Va.
