Well, I started to say "universal dislike", Lou, but then thought that some list members do like this stuff, so I figured at least a lot of us "share" a dislike of these items. Maybe even that was too strong. Just built up a Bianchi TSX-UL for my wife with modern Campy Chorus. Quite a learning experience as I'd never worked on anything that modern before. My wife is an enthusiastic recreational cyclist, but never really mastered shifting, so I figured Ergo would be of benefit to her. I must admit it does work well. On the other hand, she is totally opposed to clipless pedals, as she isn't confident in the release, so the bike has old Campy Victory instead. I can't complain though, as it was her anxiety with clipless pedals that led me into classic bike collecting. Just shortly before I joined the list in 1997 or so, I had "updated" my then far fewer bikes with clipless pedals and other modern bits. But when I put clipless pedals on her Windsor Pro, she absolutely refused to ride them. When I put the original NR pedals back on, it got me thinking about restoring all the original parts on that bike, then on others. After that one thing just led to another. So a little phobia can sometimes be a good thing.
