Dave (and all),

You know me better than to think I'd idly jump in on a squee-bay discussion here...but c'mon, the "underpriced" Flandria? It reminded me of the occasional bike boom NOS Raleigh Grand Prix bikes that show up-a new bike that precious few CRers would have coveted back "in the day."

The flandria was interesting to me as it could have been a great donor for one of the flandria/deVlaminck full SL framesets I have in the attic, but without the proper mid-70's hubset/wheels it got to be too pricy for just the bits, NOS or not. It IS "interesting", and I'd look it over if JM were riding it or showing it off in my area, but it IS after all very much a prototypical made-for-US market boomer bike. Jerry got it and will get a chance to ride it this late spring, that IS after all what our hardware was originally about isn't it?

I'm with the assessment of ups and downs on that cyber-swap meet, lets just be careful that our growing level of e-bay banter doesn't dupe us into thinking of our hobby as "investments".....unless we want to regard our "investments" in the way we council our kids about a 401k .... "put it there, leave it, pay no attention"...and trust something may come out of it 15-40+ years down-the-line. But I suspect most of us don't have the 15-40 years to wait....and lets face it, just 'cause a pump head you scrounged (or threw away!) when you were in high school might sell for 500 zops today, doesn't mean it will increase 500-fold in value by the time our grandkids are in high school.
