Jerry and others,

First of all I am a Campagnolo slob. Love it !! Want it !!! Gotta have it !!!!

Three years ago I was tempted to buy a take-off early Shimano Dura-Ace gruppo available for sale at the Cirque. The show/swap was winding down and a motivated seller was making me an offer that was getting real tempting. I finally backed away and did not make the purchase. The primary reason for the decision was that I have always been told that Shimano components are virtually not compatable from one year to the next or at least after short intervals. For me this has been a primary reason for having little to no interest in Shimano components. Maybe this is the reason that time lines for Shimano are less likely to be formulated; even though it would prove to be of great value to those interested in keeping this gear running.

So my question: Is this a Myth/Legend or fact ????

As I said when this was first outed, I think the reason this went so low was that the tubing was not known. But with an NOS and near complete original Dura Ace gruppo, the frame doesn't have to be too special to justify $256. My feeling is that Flandria would have used quality tubing to build a bike with full DA. I will find out for sure when I receive the bike, but it is either a pretty good deal or a hell of a deal, depending on the quality of the frame. And you make another good point. Bikes are not investments - they are to ride. I ride all of mine and I will ride this one which is just exactly my size. And $256 is dirt cheap for any bike you will enjoy riding.
