I agree with Jay's statement, but also want to point out that based upon the recent discussion about shipping bikes and the oversize box charges, it's sometimes no more expensive to ship the frame separately, and the wheels and other bits in another box, since you can avoid some of the size limit imposed charges they shippers impose for a box large enough to hold everything.
