The way factories work: Two variations of a part can be sold at the same time without being manufactured in the same time period. Factories make parts and components in batches. Campagnolo was not set up to make all the parts for an entire group each day. The factory would make a batch of the same part and then move on to the next part.

There is not an overlap of old and new parts being made at the same time.

Timeline for the Record front derailleur (with errors and missing variations):

1960 chromed bronze arms and cable stop and screws holding arms on pivots ???? aluminum arms and cable stop ???? aluminum arms and slotted cable stop ???? cable stop cut off 1973 no cable stop, and circlips 1977 four holes and straight band clamp 1978 CPSC lip at cage front 1982 black arms, three holes and braze on style

Note that there are many degrees of uncertainty when trying to establish dates for a Timeline. Virtually all of the above is an educated guess.
