Thanks to all that responded to the post to let me know that Dave was a keeper of the flame. Lou Deeter sent me the link to this one just before the close of the auction and at $400 shipped I thought what have I go to loose. I guess the answer to that one would be money. Any way I unpacked it today and immediately saw a dent in the top tube and the bike was dirty and all the cables needed cleaning just to make things work smoothly. I didnt bother with any of that and just put it together and then put air in the worn dry rotted tires then out the door. I already figured I would part it out, but would at least take it for a spin. It was one of those bikes where it took very few pedal strokes and I liked it then hands off the bars and wow. It was very hard to shift and braking left a lot to be desired. After 3 miles of climbing I turned around already impressed. With the tires in the condition that they were in I didnt want to go fast so I kept it under 30 mph. Again impressed, really impressed, and it handled steady as a rock. I plan on stripping it tonight and cleaning it up then assemble it and ride it. Just might be a beater bike, but then again ..just might have to have the top tube fixed and a paint job. There are not too many bikes, this makes the 4th one that I have been on in the last 4 or 5 years that made me think wow, what a ride. She ain't pretty, but a very nice sweet ride!
