Bulissimo:* Near the end of NR/SR Production, Campy was trying to use up all of its remaining unfinished parts. All sorts of interesting things emerged. Most were made in (relatively) small quantities, so it seems that many were only sold in Europe, in some cases home market only (just Italy). One example is the post-1984 no-date NR rear derailleur; another is the various hybrid Rallys. This practice is very common in small- to medium-sized Manufacturers. Really huge Corporations tend to shy away from it for Product Liability reasons, and scrap fairly large amounts of perfectly good, but incomplete parts on an irregular basis. Also, remember that lots of things never got shown in Campy's official catalogs, which for decades were just the same manually-generated graphics that were cut and pasted over and over again anyways. Food for thought.... Ciao, Gregorio Parker Ann Arbor, Michigan *w.a.d.r.t. e-RICHIE as the trademark holder....

I'm sure we've all seen Campagnolo Rally cages married to Nuovo Record bodies. (there is one right now on ebay - # 3694970531 - with the hex bolts from the later Rally #5011/06 married to a NR body). But a more intriguing one, ebay #3695150187 showed up, being the older Rally #3450 with a NR outer plate. This one uses the original Rally upper body which had the frame mounting bolt offset. Now I know that it is possible to remove the pins, and re-rivet with a NR outer body plate, but what a load of work, even if one possessed a crashed out NR derailleur (with an unscathed outer plate). Or is possible this one was mistakenly assembled at the factory (like the upside down plane in the postage stamp) or did Campy actually release this between catalogs #17 & 18?

And certainly, in following the auction action, I grimace at another case of the unknowing buyers scrambling over each other to get to the unknowing buyer's wares. It will be amusing to see how much these go for. Darn it, how come they don't find their way to MY auctions? I currently have Brass Grand Sport Rally derailleurs, Super Record three piece steel-alloy hubs with Hi-Lo flanges, and NOS Masi frames from the '20's, with Columbus "SK" tubing which preceeded SL.
