Subject: [CR]Intro & CR Rose Bowl Ride

Hi All,

My name is Monty Pettus. I've been lurking here since I learned of this list at Dave Staubs memorial. I raced in So Cal from 1963 to '82. It's been my pleasure to ride many of the brands discussed here and I share the enthusiasm that you all have for the craftsmanship of classic cycles. I ride a Bianchi Centinario and own a 75 Teledyne, 73 Paramount, 73 Raleigh Pro Track, Paramount Tandem, and an old Bianchi that I haven't identified yet.

This morning was cold and threatening rain but having read about the monthly Rose bowl CR ride I decided to make it a New Years resolution. Chuck was there of course. Nattily attired in his Beck's jersey and astride his beautiful '59 Mercian Vigorelli SL fixie. Charles Andrews was riding his Orange Carlsbad MASI GC. Also there for the first time was Dwight Moore from Redlands honoring this months theme with his gorgeous Pearl White with red Richard Sachs.

After waiting a few minutes to see if any other brave fools would venture out we departed on what would be a very nice jaunt. We only felt enough raindrops to remind us not to dawdle.

I can't think of a better way to start a new year than a fun ride with new friends.

Happy New Year to All

Monty
