Subjective opinions aside the merits of sewups vs. clinchers must be (or has been) the subject of intense scientific scrutiny. Perhaps the engineers on the list can comment. I recall an add campaign featuring the fact that Giani Bugno won the World Professional Championship on clinchers. My suspicion is that the pro peletons don't wax nostalgic about the good old days but use what ever they can that works best. Does anyone know for a fact what Lance and the boys currently use in the Tour, etc...?
