Regarding Sampson frames, as stated he was in San Jose and after the article on USA builders appeared in Bicycling!, I built up a custom for a guy who was previously a BYU tennis scholarship type. He was about 6'6" and the frame was a biggie. Used Campy everything (NR) except for the cool brass colored MAFAC Competitions. It was cosmetically a nice frame when I saw it and the owner had it for around 15 years before it was stolen. By that time he had moved to San Diego where he lived next door to his riding buddy, also on a huge frameset-- Bill Walton. In case anyone would remember the stolen Sampson, it was black imron with red small case decals.
