Here are the real details one needs to know about my purchase of the "Chater-Lea" crankset in question. In his first 8/15/2004 listing, the seller described the item as "a very nice Chater lea chainset". As with the current listing, he nicely promised "Satisfaction guaranteed". Upon receiving the crank and seeing the arms did not match, with the right arm devoid of any CL markings, I immediately contacted the seller who agreed to its return and 100% refund including the return shipping. The crankset was returned via US Postal Air Mail on 8/31/2004. Following approx. 2 months, the seller claimed to have never received the returned crank, at which time I appealed the credit card payment made for the item through PayPal. Fortunately I prevailed, and was refunded the purchase price. To my surprise, the seller informs me via e-mail yesterday that the crank finally arrived back in the UK, and he immediately relists it on eBay, this time around as "what I (he) believes to be a Chater lea chainset". I immediately replied to him, asking him to honor his promise to pay for the return shipping cost, but I don't expect him to honor his word on this. Bidders should not primarily be concerned with the item in question here, but how the seller will honor his satisfaction guarantee. If you receive the item as I once did, and decide you want to return it, then please make sure that you have tracers on the box to prove he received it. As for this seller's single negative feedback, I am proud to say that I provided it for him over the CL purchase. Sorry for the long message, but there was way more to this discussion than folks were aware of.
