Dear CR List, I took a field trip up to "Mount Airy Bicycles" in Mt. Airy Maryland, and visited with shop owner Larry Black. Larry, told me he was the featured speaker at the "Annual Banquet of our local bicycle club, "Potomac Pedalers Touring Club" earlier today. I finally got to see , one of Harlan Meyers, riveted and bonded Aluminum "bicycle creations" from the early 1970's, called a HI-E COSMOPOLITAN,lightweight racing bicycle . It was bright orange and all original with all Hi-E parts! Check out the link on Dale's ClassicRendezvous website at http://www.classicrendezvous.com Go to the "VINTAGE USA" section of the CR website, AND SCROLL DOWN TO "U.S.A. COMPONENTS and PARTS", which is, JUST BELOW "KEEPERS OF THE FLAME (K.O.F.). GO TO "Hi-E ENGINEERING" and view the black and white photo of Harlan Meyers adjusting a "Cosmopolitan" race bicycle, for USA racer, Steve Dayton, of The Indianapolis/Speedway Wheelmen. The photo does not do the real "McCoy" justice! It was a real treat to see the Hi-E Cosmopolitan, hopefully Larry can bring it CIRQUE 2005 coming up soon! Larry said he had it(the Hi-E "Cosmopolitan" at today's PPTC banquet held in the Washington,D.C. area. All the frame tubes were of riveted aircraft aluminum, NO WELDS!!!!

Larry mentioned that he is now picturing bicycles that he has for sale on his website. Some new, some old, some big, some small, most are on topic bicycles I just checked it out.....at http://www.bike123.com I viewed roughly photos of 150 bicycles of various vintage and condition on the website. Larry said he is in the process of trying to post photos of the 930 plus bicycles listed in the PDF file on his website. The red, "CHRIS PAULEY" bicycle from the Cirque 2002 Show, is shown on the website.SWEET!!! It is always kind of mind boggling trying to see all the bicycles hanging on display when you stop by Larry's bicycle shop(s).

There will be a local "swap" meet coming up soon for our Tri-State area of Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia, or is that (Del Mar Va) Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.....

Check out information on the Westminster, Maryland "STOP,SWAP AND SAVE scheduled for FEBRUARY 6TH,2005 (snow date is on February 13th) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the "CARROLL COUNTY AGRICULTURAL CENTER in Westminster,Maryland at http://www.rpmcycling.com

This swap meet costs $5.00 General Admission and there usually is at least 100-150 folks lined up to get in by 8:30 a.m.
