Thought I'd give a concrete example of the suggestion, originally from Greg Parker, I think, of checking eBay feedback "Left for Others", which I had repeated a couple of days ago. I've been watching a bike outed here, but noticed the seller, with 216 feedbacks, was 99.5% positive. I found that she had 2 negative feedbacks over a year ago from the same guy, who is no longer a registered user. His own feedback is 95% and he had left a large number of negative feedbacks for others. The positive feedbacks he left were trivial - AAAAA -, but the negaitves consisted of personal attacks, very short on specifics. This is a good example of "considering the source" when evaluationg negative feedback. The seller of the bike I am watching, meantime, has postive feedbacks that are mostly real positives, i.e. which speak specificly of being pleased with goods, of prompt shipping, of curteous treatment, not the lukewarm positives that sound more like Neutrals. I will now have no hesitation in bidding on this bike.

Even though some complain about discussion of eBay, it is our primary source of bikes and parts, and I'm grateful that Greg and others who have done their homework share their hard-won wisdom here. They have ceratinly made me a more educated buyer.
