Subject: [CR]campy sidepulls and replacement blocks

Having just waded through several hundred e-mails on my return to work after the festive season layoff I am a little late into this subject, but for what it's worth I have been using Koolstop's CR drop-in replacements for the Campy SR brakes for the past year or so and they have been excellent. Certainly better than the OE ones I removed and put in storage. For concours time, of course.

One difference is that the Koolstop pad matches the Campy's black colour, but lacks its grooves. A hacksaw easily remedies this if you are particularly concerned about looking authentic. Not that grooving the pads seems to have had any significant effect on retardation, though. The first time I braked hard with the new pads the bike stood on its nose and I nearly did an endo. So much for the poor performance of old-school brakes.
