In the 1970s, René Herse often used Campy NR fronts on triples. See http://www.mindspring.com/~heine/bikesite/bikesite/images/herse1974.jpg

They work fine with triples at least down to about 30 teeth. The Campy triples with rings smaller than 36 (or 35) and "weird" bcd were aftermarket conversions, I believe. -- Jan Heine, Seattle Editor/Publisher Vintage Bicycle Quarterly c/o Il Vecchio Bicycles 140 Lakeside Ave, Ste. From the 1975 Paramount catalogue, the P15-9 deluxe tourer used a 36-46-54 Campy triple. I have a slightly earlier model with an after-market 32, but the bolt circle is odd and there aren't many out there.

The front derailleur was Campy Record, with a "GT-300" = Shimano Crane in back.

Dave Clementson asked: Hi all: I read in the Archives that certain versions of the Paramount came equipped with 52-??-36 Campy triples. Can anyone tell me what front derailleur was originally used with that setup? I ask because I'm looking for something appropriate to the Hetchins I'm building up with a Campy 52-46-36 triple crankset. This bike will be a "rider," so superior performance wins over period correctness.

Thanks in advance for any info!
