Okay, as long as you promise to not tell anyone, I played hooky today. Well Lawrence Kurtz did, I just tagged along. Actually we took a mid-day "principle holiday" based on the principle that it's bike oriented, there is no need for an explanation, we deserve it !!!!!!

Lawrence decided to introduce me to one of his favorite "discovery" places in Toronto. This place is in an alley, in Kensington Market. This area is a street market, great hang out for backpackers with tasty ethnic restaurants (we ate in a little Chilean Open Kitchen that was great).

The shop, some of you know already, is simply named "Georges", one door, leaky roof and bikes, hundreds of bikes, piles of bikes, ancient stuff, recent stuff, lots of steel. But George is the real deal, the guy is an inspiration doing what I wish I could do for a living, he keeps everyone and everybody's bike happy, he tunes bikes, he adjusts brakes, he oils chains, got a squeak or a flat, call George (actually don't try to call there is no phone you have to visit personally) which could be worth a book or two with the interesting characters that he keeps his cricket bat for, at the door.

Oh yeah, my new Cinelli, 62cm, pearl white, little sticker that says "Tony Beek" and a head tube that is cracked (darn !!!) at the top of the lower lug. No problem, I'm calling Mike Barry tomorrow. For $40, this ranks right up there with my BSA Path Racer in terms of great discoveries.

Thanks Lawrence for helping "Create a great day"
