My Campagnolo "No Record" large flange rear hub is locknut dated as 1965. In other words, this hub has an oiler clip and just says "Campagnolo" - it does not say "Campagnolo Record".

I think there might be a flaw in the Campagnolo Timeline, or at least a misleading statement. The timeline says that "No Record" hubs were dropped from the catalogue in 1963. However, I have a set of "No Record" hubs locknut-dated as 1965. There is not any evidence that the rear axle locknuts were replaced - why would you ever replace the locknuts ? so I think that perhaps the catalogues do not match the actual sequencing of the parts in production.

In fact every detail of this carlton flyer bike suggests a 1966 model. The bike has a steel record derailleur, cable stop on front derailleur, 151 bcd crankset w/o lip, campy headset w/o <C>, dropouts w/hole for gransport, and it appears the bike is all original. The bike even has clarks cables, white ribbed raleigh tape, and milremo star bar plugs and a period brooks pro seat. The weinmann brakes are unusual and must fit somewhere between 1962 and 1971/2.

Does anyone else have some mid 1960's "No Record" Campy hubs ??

I have a set of 'No Record' hubs with locknuts dated 63, and another set with nuts dated 65. Chuck notes that 63 is when they began including "Record" on the hub barrels.

We've heard that the Super Record rear derailleur was nearly as rare in 1973 as it is today, because it was available only to the select few. Could it be that the first new style hubs to roll off the lines were reserved for top level racing bikes, not unlike the SR rear der., and perhaps other Campagnolo first releases? This would explain their rarity, and the seemingly original existence of the old style with newer locknuts.

I wonder, are there many, or any known examples of 'No Record' hub shells with nuts dated 63 or 64, that are believed to be original? If so, then might we be able to say that both 'No Record' AND Record stamped hubs, are perfectly period correct for any bike from 1963-65?

BTW ...are there small flange 'No Record' aluminum hubs? Anyone got PICs?
