To me, the diagnostics are that it still has a Gran Sport derailleur (instead of the "steel" record, and the rear dropout has a hole for the spring of the (ugh) Sport - this was dropped about 1961, I believe. The front derailleur has the CPSC lip, and is a later replacement. The lovely forged Stronglight (?) cranks with Simplex (?) cogs also speak no later than early 60s, as they were pretty much pushed out by aluminum cranks in the ealry 60s. What a pretty bike. If you pardon the pun on Bauer, bought the farm on that one!
