It's that darn base-64 encoding again, although I don't know why your mail software doesn't automatically decode it for you. It seems you're using Thunderbird on a Mac; I use Thunderbird on linux here, and it decoded Lou's message just fine. Maybe the solution is for Lou to investigate whether his mail software (Atlas -- AOL's mail program) can send plain text rather than encoded text.

In any case, here's Lou's message:

I survived my two nights in the cold, and I might add, snowy, New Yawk City. Many thanks to Gianni Pergolizzi for setting up the get together and the wonderful walking tour of the financial district for me and my business colleague. Aaron, Lipstadt was also visiting New York on business and added a delightful addition to the group. I had no idea he was a television celebrity! Mike Schmidt selected the wonderful restaurant. We walked from the financial district for about an hour thru the snow after 8 PM (below 20 degrees too!!) and ended up passing thru Chinatown to Little Italy. We saw ALL the sights worth seeing at that end of Manhattan. Gianni even took a call from Dale Brown while on the walk. I thought we were going to freeze while he talked, but fortunately, we began moving again in short order. I at first thought it strange that Gianni didn't think much of the restaurants in Little Italy, but in the end, Mike Schmidt's selection back on Stone St was a gem and a great decision. The owners treated us like royalty and the company, food, and drink were plentiful. I learned more about grappa than I think I ever could without being in the presence of such a group. We even talked just a little about bikes, imagine that! Thanks Gianni, Mike and Aaron for sharing your evening. Hopefully, we can do it again in the future. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
