Doesn't the B7813 number indicate it was built in the second quarter of '78? Of course, it's easy to assume that a 1973 mark could be mistaken for 1978, and vice versa. My 3rd quarter'78 Masi has essentially the same decals: simple Masi on down tube, seat tube decals applied high, and stay decals rearward. Perhaps this bike is an original 1978. It's my understanding that this was a transitional period for the application method and placement of Masi decals. Jim Allen may be able to shed the brightest light on this topic.
