>From changer along bottom of drop. As the bars curve move cable to inside of brake lever clip travel along top of bars at 45 degree down from horizontal. About 75mm from stem end the bar tape and curve towards downtube clip. Angle of cable under tape is perfect for riding on the top of the bars. Fully tape. I use cloth tape , preferably about 3 layers.
That's the way I've done it since 1965.
