Richard mentions the Veneto. If you consider the 40 miles between Vicenza and Treviso, you are looking at untold companies. Smack dab in the middle would be Rossano Veneto: The center of all saddle production in Italy on the border between the provinces of Vicenza and Treviso: Selle Italia, Selle San Marco, Bassano Selle, Iscaselle, Selle Royal, Fizik,... (I'm told that Unicanitors were made there too, but don't have any proof) Also in this same area is Wilier Triestina, as well as present day Selcof and Scicon. If you then radiate 40 miles around Rossano, you will also find teh domains of other leaders in the racing bike world: Campagnolo, Elite (both Vicenza), Modolo, Miche, Saccon, Rudy Project (Treviso). Also in the province of Treviso, in the city of Montebelluna, you will find virtually all of the cycling shoe production as well as Italmanubri. Then add a few relatively unknow frame builders: Pinarello, Opera, Faggin, Scapin, Basso, Battaglin, Alan, Bottecchia (at least originally), Carnielli, Torpado, Peripoli (the largest producer of bikes in Italy!)... plus many more
