The size of a rim box makes it fall into the OS2 category, which means UPS charges you at the 70lb dimensional weight. $24 is a pretty good price. I've seen single rim boxes bill out at $36 in some cases. That does not make for a happy customer, especially for a cheapo alloy rim.

One you want to watch. I recently bought a NOS Mavic MA2 rim from a seller on the IBOB list. Paid a fair price...no steal... $55. Seller says to me "Just send the $55 and I'll bill you the shipping". Easy. Seller bills me $24 for shipping a rim! I looked up some of my records. I've shipped two bikes in the last year for that. Four complete sets of wheels...highest was $14. When I got the rim, it was just tossed in a box without even a bit newspaper around it or anything...just rattling around in there! I paid the guy, but will never do business with him again. I think I'll ask for a shipping fee and have it settled up front before completing the deal with anyone I don't know.
