What I realized is the bikes I'd keep out of sentiment, and the ones I'd keep because they really are the best of the best--to me, anyway....are not the same...

Sentiment:

1) Mondia Special with the fade paint, early 70s

2) Falcon San Remo early 70s

3) Argos criterium frame, built up in various ways over the years for racing. Mid-70s

4) Rivendell custom 2000

The ones I'd keep if someone put a gun to my head and forced me to choose....

1) Jack Taylor Tandem, early 80s

2) Colnago Pantografata early 70s

3) Pogliaghi road late 60s

4) Masi Gran Criterium early Carlsbad

5) Baylis road 1995

6) Pogliaghi tandem late 60s

7) Cinelli SC early 70s

8) De Rosa early 70s with the short-point lugs (haven't found it yet)

9) Gloria Garibaldina extra in original condition (haven't found that yet either...and I'm not holdin' my breath)

10) Swiss Condor path bike late '50s.

11) Colnago Super 1970

12) Masi Special early '60s.

There are others... but those would keep me happy. I thought 12 would be about right, so I could ride a different one every month..<g>

Watching the rest of you in this exercise really has me thinking about thinning the herd. Maybe I'll even do it, by-and-by. I find by having too many bikes, no one of them gets enough appreciation.
