It's nice to be taken to task for not have ALL of my Top Five Bikes not be British ones... four out of five was pretty good I thought.

So, throw out that Cinelli SC and I'd come up with:

1. 1948 Raleigh Record Ace 2. 1938 Rudge-Whitworth Aero-Olympic 3. 1939 Raleigh Record Ace 4. 1976 TI Raleigh Team Pro 753 5. 1964ish Falcon/Carlton/Holdsworth pro

No. 5 is still ill-defined but inspired by too many viewings of some classic videos of the 1962 and 1964 London-Holyhead races. Light blue frames, lots of chrome including lugs and forks, "imichrome" stickers, Weinmann 999 centrepulls or GB 66s etc. A '64 Team Falcon San Remo, Albert Hitchens era, would do nicely but only if it included the complete team kit which was very snazzy indeed. The Falcon Team of this era was Cool Britannia before they coined the phrase.
