I just bought the golden version on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category697&itemq20246 492 There are also listed (misleadingly as french) at the speedplay museum page: http://www.speedplay.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=pedalmuseum.straps

Although they look cool, I doubt that the Sorel clips were expensive parts for your 50th anniversary Super Record or ICS equipped high end show bike but rather nice companions for colored anodized Modolo brakes or white Gipiemme parts in the 80s. I would trade my golden Sorel clips for a set of XL chromed Christophes or NOS 1960s REGs.

I have two pair of toe clips in original boxes made by (or at least sold under the name) Georges Sorel. These are made in Italy, and while the ones I have are black anodized alloy, the box indicates that at least seven other types and/or colors were available. Some of the versions available included gold plating and what appears to be color and graphic silk-screened print (box has color pictures and a list of part number check-boxes on the end panel).

Is anyone familiar with these clips? Seen/own any of the versions? Did Georges Sorel market other components?

I don't recall parts by this maker being mentioned on the list before.

Recollections?
