Bianca,

Don't worry about paint stripper on your steel frame, it won't hurt anything. Generally the interior of frames do not rust out unless continuiously exposed to lots of moisture and left unattended. You can clean out the inside with whatever you want before you paint, but it's best to treat the inside of the frame after it's painted with Framesaver.

Good luck with the paint job. Are you planning on attempting "Gios Blue"? That's a tough toner to come up with and there are some tricks to getting the right shade. If you decide to send it off, don't forget there are quite a few top class painting outfits in the US and you should check around before sending off to the first place that comes to mind.

Regardless, have fun. Got decals?

It looks more and more that I will be doing the late 70's Gios Torino. The frame is basically healthy but there is the slight tinge of oxidation on all the tube interiors that I can see. If I paint myself and don't send it off to Cyclart, how would I go about it? I thought of spraying some kind of zinc treatment in all the the tubes after a thorough strip and sanding. Does framesaver neutralize all existing oxidation? I once kept a frame in a humid shed for years with no growth of rust by filling all the tubes with motor oil and smearing grease on the exterior. Even the paint was perfect when I cleaned it up. Does chemical stripper hurt the tubes if it gets into the bottom bracket and doesn't all get washed off?
