Jim and all,

Before everyone gets too excited, perhaps a little more research is neccessary.

I haven't seen the box, but have discussed it with another listmember yesterday, just for grins. We know the handwriting is European and most likely Italian. I am familier with that style of writing. But from a logical standpoint consider this.

It is more likely that if it has Mario's address on it, it was sent to him. Therefore it was most likely addressed TO him by someone else. Not too likely Mario put his own address on the box. So who else, using Italian handwriting could have sent him those hubs? My guess would have been Gian Simonetti, who was still working at Masi in Carlsbad at the time. My theory is that Gian sent them to Mario and wrote the address on the bottom od the hub box.

I suggest a handwriting expert make a determination. Simonetti's handwriting would be quite easy to get an example of. All the Euro handwriting I've seen looks very simular to me. It may be prudent to do a little research before proclaiming that Mario wrote that address. That's just me. Maybe everyone else would prefer to just go ahead.

Lou,

That is Mario's handwriting. I recognize it and it matches documents I have in Mario's old files. The address is that of George Ferrier's address. That is where Mario worked after leaving Los Angeles.

The handwriting on this box was in my opinion written by a person of European education. The absence of postage on the box makes me think that it wasn't shipped from Italy with that writing as the exterior postal address. It could be writing from Italy, but it also could have been Mario's writing or someone else associated with the shipment who was also a European. Does anyone recognize Mario's handwriting?
