Dear list,

I have to admit that being from Brooklyn I am usually very sarcastic, so perhaps I am reading an overtly aggressive, condescending tone in these words. Maybe. That's just the way this wording strikes me. I guess I'm the sensitive type! However, this tone does seem to be more usual on the list of late. It leaves me rather sad. But what bothers me most though, is the quickness as to which this Item has been put up for sale. The validity of Mr.Kruger's conclusion has NOT been corroborated by any other knowledgeable parties other then James Cunningham of CycleArt. Certainly it would not take that much work to get a little further down the line. Just give a call to Gian Simonetti and see what he say's, for one. Being the present caretaker of perhaps truly THE MOST RARE Campagnolo box ( an example of the first Campagnolo packaging that held the " retro fit quick release/axle kit" from the early to mid 1930's), I am very interested in "proof". So why the rush? Should contrary evidence arise, then this "Confente" box would certainly loose value. So it seems to me , at least, that the correct conclusion of such a rapid sale is solely for monetary gain. I am NOT saying that there is anything wrong in this. I am perhaps one of THE strongest believers in capitalism on this list. I do however believe that prudent academic research would have been a "collectors" next move rather then to go so quickly to "The Bay". With the proper research, I would certainly be an interested buyer. This is my humble opinion and is NOT up for debate. Thank You,

John T.Pergolizzi Brooklyn, New York Also, a Confente owner and Confente filed seat lug gift holder (given to me by a certain Troll SoCal frame builder). Oh, and I got a patch too; REAL! And a repro; thanks M.G.
