Nervar made a 5-arm steel cotterless crank, with alloy rings, as fitted to some Raleigh Super Course models. I had one of those. Shimano and others have made more recent cheap, cotterless cranks as well. Some (GS200?) are bulked up with plastic to make 'em look like normal alloy arms!
