I know there are plenty of bikes out there that are very interesting and nice and there are just as many vacancies in the bike lists of Dale's site. Take Wayne Binghams gold EDCO headset. Why is there not a copy of it under EDCO? Or those copper Campy Brakes? Or of more Gitanes? Or? Or? Or?

What is the reason for this? >>

Dear Kim:

I am sure those who are longtime readers of this list and who are familiar with the CR web site history intuitively realize that my interest in spending the long hours to update and expand the site has run out. I already have spent a ridiculously excessive amount of time on it, the e-mail list and the Cirque...... any rational person would have given up it up a long time ago. I have HUGE backlog of material to be added but simply not the time nor inclination to do it beyond the snail's pace that I currently proceed with.

As Peter Naimann suggests, any of you are more than welcome to develop your own sites and I will link to them. Though it may seem so, it ain't so easy. I point out the demise of other very nice sites such as Peter Grenader's Allegro site, the PX10 site, etc. These were of extremely modest size and scope relative to the CR site yet they seem to have succumbed to "owner burn out." Huge kudos to Morgan and the Wool jersey, that has been a very enjoyable experience for all of us, but I hasten to mention that it is a different concept and requires significantly less authorship.

So... maybe at some time I will hand over the CR site to some other masochist? Or perhaps other sites will spring up and provide that next level?

I appreciate the interest though and await the next bright star on the horizon of vintage bike lore...
