Actually, the first Campagnolo pedals with aluminum cages weren't black anodized (the cages also didn't have the reinforcing lip around the punched out holes, that came later) so that it would be next to impossible to pick them out in a race photo.

Many people examining the early pedals with aluminum cages (silver, not black) aren't even aware that they are looking at aluminum cages and not steel.
