Hi, Louis---

I recently went through the same hassles that you are going through, dealing with the UK.

Yes, for some reason (911), the USPS stopped issuing International Money Orders for certain European countries. Very weird. I asked them about it and they refused to give me an answer.

You can ask if the seller will take American Express Travelers or Gift Checks. Gift checks are available in various SET denominations, and then you can just add a few greenbacks to reach the exact figure of the sale + shipping. That cuts your risk by a good bit. It's the closest thing to US cash and many Brits take them. I've done it several times.

You can also offer to PAY THE SELLER'S PAYPAL FEES if they'll take PayPal, as that is often the reason why they're holding back. (The other reason, general distrust of PayPal or old fashionedness, you can't do much about except encouraging them to open an account because it will increase their sales, and it's so easy, etc.) Again, this has worked for me a few times.

Others might be able to give you info on wire transfers, Western Union, etc., but that is beyond my limited knowledge.

Hope this helps....

Good luck,
