Hi Louis I use American Express travellers checks. At my bank I get them free, though that's unusual, most banks charge a fee. Last year I bought a frame from a UK seller for around $600, and sent payment by Am Ex checks. They never arrived. When asked how they were lost I told them they were lost in the mail. Big mistake, for they are not supposed to be mailed and mail loss isn't covered. After 4 weeks of back and forth dialogue Am Ex did issue a refund however. Lesson learned: if the checks are lost, tell an alternate truth. BTW the frame sale was never completed. Jay Van De Velde Seal Beach,CA

Well, it isn't easy. The Post Office doesn't issue international money orders for the UK, or so they told me. My bank said they don't issue such things either. I am not sending cash. Western Union only issues money orders in dollars.

What does everyone do in this situation?
