Subject: [CR]Weinmann centerpull brakes

On my first good bike, a late 60's Atala, I was fortunate to have these wonderful brakes. An internet search brings up little information about any Weinmann side pulls. I will say, however that the Weinmann centerpulls were confidence inspiring, sturdy and looked macho but with a sence of fineness about them. I believe they were heavy just to look at them, but as far as function, I never found anything which surpassed those old Weinmanns. Just to look at the array of bikes in several different price points tells me that they could be made and sold inexpensively, but would not be out of place even in a serious bike. I think that little has been done to improve on the performance they were capable of, (although the issue of weight is another matter).
