Paint for a 1972 raleigh competition would be "LILAC". Parts are mostly Zeus/Simplex. Crankset is EXTREMELY rare (seen one on ebay in 2.5 years of surfing for zeus crankset) Here is an original 1971 raleigh competition with a nervar star (49d type, not later type) substitution:

Brakes, Bars, stem, seat, hubs are standard raleigh comp/international : Weinmann Lima-bean-holed QR brakes, GB map-of-england, GB stem, Brooks B-15/17, Normandy Comps, The B-15 was a cheapo version of the B-17 and had thinner leather. Hubs were probably weinmann tubs. Seat tube if you're really anal was birmalux. Seat bolt was Raleigh "R" nut. Plugs were Milremo star.

There _WAS_ a lilac competition on ebay a few months ago where the owner had repainted it although it was a 1973 which had the capella lugs. He liked the lilac color a lot more than the flat black (who can blame him.)

Raleigh hoods can be restored with acetone but WATCH OUT !! It _will_ dissolve a little bit of the plastic, so make sure to mask off the "Carlton" logo or you might lose it !
