Generally applicable to all bike photography and not just this auction, here's a photo tip for the not-so-alert.

I think backdrops are good. Sometimes it's nice to have an item in context, but most often I like being able to focus attention on the item itself without distraction. With that in mind, if you're going to take the trouble to set up a backdrop like the white sheeting that this seller has, then please:

ROTATE THE ITEM (bike, frame, whatever), NOT YOURSELF.

If you don't know what I mean, look at the picture highlighting the headbadge in this frameset auction. The backdrop is clearly there -- it's just not in back anymore. This seller's got a couple of other frames up, as well, and those listings had the same problem to a lesser degree. It's easy to do it right, so why not? Sorry if this just comes across as a pet peeve, but folks do it all the time....
