Chuck's velo-retro timeline has this about non-fluted arms:

"1985 - Introduction of C-Record (C = Corsa) group. Super Record crankarms without milled flutes (first produced with an engraved logo and later a laser-etched version) derived from the 1983 Anniversary group."

So now I know when Campy went ugly.
