In 1962, Jose Meiffret rode on a public road behind a gullwing Mercedes at 127.342 miles per hour, or 204.778 km/h. In photos, his 130 tooth chainring looks as big in diameter as his front tire! Even with 130X15 gearing, he had to pedal at 187.5 rpm to attain that speed. That, my friends, is truly amazing!
