Re: Rust removal

For rust removal try Mollasses, a by-product from sugar cane. It is very popular with car restorers who do not want to risk damaging fragile and rare panels. It's cheap and effective, but slow.

You need a tank, preferably with a lid to prevent evaporation. Mix 1:4 mix with water (1 part mollasses, 4 parts water). Fully immerse the items and leave for up to a week depending on how much rust there is. Then, hey presto, the rust is gone. Check the progress every 2 days. Beware of using it for cast iron and aluminium.

You should be able to buy it from the local farm store, or where they sell horse feed.
