Chuck and all,

I think you hit the nail exactly on the head. This extraction, from the thousands of words I told him, taken out of context, is disturbing and grossely misleading. I expressed my fear of such a thing to the writer the versy first minute after meeting him. I told him of my learyness of the media in this situation and the importance of me proofreading the text before publication, which was promised but didn't actually happen. I shall clarify this misstatement and reveal the full context this evening. Gotta go right now. Spent some time at the World Track Championships in L. A. and need to get right back to it. Will be spending the day with the one and only John Pergolizzi at my shop. This will be a work/play day. Nose to the grindstone tomorrow.

It is great that Brian received some well deserved publicity!!! My only complaint with the article was that the author made the mistake of comparing Brians bikes to Richard Sachs' by comparing the amount of hours put into the production. To those that may not be "in the know", it could be taken that Richard's bikes are somewhat less of a bike than Brian's.

They are two different animals- Brian goes out of his way to make an elaborate piece of rolling art. His lugwork and paint are definately 2nd to none, and the ride is magical. Richard builds bikes with a different philosophy- it is simple elegance with an incredible ride, meant to be ridden as hard as you want.

Both builders are Masters of their craft. To only take one detail of their build process and use it to compare is a disjustice to both.
