Subject: [CR]Asking values to the list

I can see this whole thing from both angles. There is the argument (or rule rather) that the list is not to be used as an item value inquiry service. Fine. But try to see it from the new-comer's side--he/she logs on to the CR website and sees four plus years of "Market Highs" on items sold on our favorite place: eBay. Now, it (wording in Market Highs section) does state something along the lines that "said prices are not normal but are extreme highs." Given that, let's say I know nothing about bicycle parts and have a 1951 Campagnolo Gran Sport rear derailleur in my hands. I am new to the list. I see the "extreme prices paid" in the CR "Market Highs." I see that one has sold for $2,450.00. Let's say mine is NOS, NIB, and has original Instructions. I decide that I want to insure my derailleur (1951 GS RD, NOS, NIB, w/Insts.)

Keeping in mind that I have just looked at the prices on the CR Market "extreme high list," am I out of line to attempt to get a general consensus from the CR list members as to how much this derailleur is or may be worth? If so, I would recommend taking the CR Record High Prices off of the CR website as it MAY BE causing confusion to some folks.
