I just want to correct an apparent misunderstanding that I've noticed a couple of times on the list.

Tom Kellogg used to build excellent frames. If it's a Ross signature with his name on the chainstay, or if it says Tom Kellogg on the down tube (like the one mentioned by Edward Albert) then it was certainly built by Tom. However, if you have a Spectrum, it was almost certainly made by Jeff Dusar. I bring this up for a couple reasons: first, Tom Kellogg told me personally not six months ago that he has not built a frame himself in close to twenty years. Jeff Dusar builds all Spectrum frames. Tom paints. He will modestly tell you that Jeff is a much better framebuilder than he is. The second reason I bring this up is that Jeff Dusar does not get the recognition he deserves, on this list or anywhere else. He certainly qualifies, by even the most conservative definition, as a KOF (although yes, he does also build with materials other than steel). In fact, if you search the CR archives, you will find reference to both Spectrum and Tom Kellog, but you will only find one mention of Jeff Dusar - and it's a post I made myself back in October.

So please, give Jeff his due. And remember that Tom, who used to build excellent frames, is now an excellent painter (he did a beautiful job on my '74 Jack Taylor).

I'm almost positive Tom does not lurk on this list, or he would probably have corrected this misapprehension himself by now.
