This is the point Garth. I have not abandoned KOF's or vintage bikes but I know the the colnago C40 (now C50) is a great riding/fast bike.
This is not about Fast Food Nation. As a sociologist I know all about how McDonalds even constructs their seats do be not too comfortable to get you out of the restaurant fast but that is a side issue. Carbon fibre bikes are NOT the devil. They are progress in a certain direction.
They are light, responsive, and fast. It is not an either/or issue. In 1971 I drove an MGB and my brother, before that, drove an MGA. Both had Lucas electric's and the were GARBAGE. Fun to drive but GARBAGE.
Now I have a Miata. It is great. Handles great, and has never broken down like my MGB which did every mile or so. Would I like another MGB...You bet. Even Better my older bother's MGA twin cam. Depend on it for everyday transportation.....forget it. Sorry but this notion that change is retrogressive by definition silly. Treasure the KOF's and the old bikes for what the are....the past but don't reject progress on principle. Edward Albert Chappaqua, NY
