Aldo,
You forgot to mention that his record breaking ride took place at the autodrome in Montlhéry, which we discussed so thoroughly a couple of months ago! Until the advent of WW2, this seemed to be the place to make those motor-paced record attempts. Take a look at this link for more info and pictures of the bicycles taht were used, including the one ridden by "Mile A Minute" Murphy in 1899:
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/deviltriathlon/Histoire/histoire_d.htm Some of it is in English, but most of it's in French (the text that is, but the photos speak for themselves in whichever tongue is your own) - but it's simple French and you can always plug it into the Alta Vista or Google translator.
     Bon nuite,
Fred Rednor - Arlington, Virginia (USA)
